CULTURAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR DHHLL'S ANAHOLA KULEANA HOMESTEAD TRACT

Anahola & Kamalomaloʻo Ahupuaʻa, Puna and Koʻolau Moku, Kauaʻi  -  DHHL

At the request of Group 70 (G70), Nohopapa Hawaiʻi, LLC conducted a Cultural Impact Assessment (CIA) for the Anahola Kuleana Homestead Tract for Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL). TMK parcels are located in the ahupuaʻa of Anahola, Koʻolau moku, and the ahupuaʻa of Kamalomaloʻo, Puna moku, on the mokupuni of Kauaʻi. The primary purpose of this project is to document cultural features, resources, and practices in the project area, to give voice to some of the community’s ʻike (knowledge) and manaʻo (thoughts) on the proposed project; and to summarize community concerns and recommendations as they relate to Cultural practices relating to the study area, specifically how the proposed project might impact the community—past, present, and future. This report is intended to be used as a source to develop strategies, make informed decisions, and provide recommendations specific to this portion of the DHHL Anahola Settlement Plan.
